SALA FESTIVAL COMES TO ALEXIS GEORGE

Alexis George and South Australian Living Artists Festival

We are very excited to be participating in the SALA Festival. This year we will be hosting exhibitions by two exceptional Adelaide artists.

Delana Carbone is a creative writer and visual artist who often explores themes of myth and magic in her work. Her exhibition at Alexis George,    ‘A Night in the Dream King’s Harem’ is a fitting tribute to the female form and the beauty of nature. Her work will be displayed in store and in the front window displayed with some of our own creations, which should make for a really dynamic entrance!
Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come…

Delana has exhibited extensively since her sellout 2008 debut show at Dragonfly Bar. Working primarily as a stencil artist, last year she was chosen to be part of the national travelling exhibition ‘King of Canvas’. Make sure you look out for her upcoming October collection ‘She Rides in Beauty Like the Night’ at Espionage Gallery in Rundle Mall.

Leanne Marshall is a jewellery designer currently based at the renowned JamFactory studios and has designed a beautiful range inspired by vintage lace collected during her travels in Europe. Her handcrafted work in sterling silver merges contemporary jewellery design with the exquisite detail of old lace and the end result is timeless; each piece in the collection is designed to be an heirloom, passed down through each generation and as Leanne says:

“The organic detail of minute stitches wrought in silver allows people to create their own stories about each piece. This range is special – the allure of each piece lies on it being totally unique. I think the work shows how much care and attention and love I have poured into putting this collection together.”

We wholeheartedly agree, here are some examples of her stunning work:

These images don’t do justice to the incredible work of these two very talented ladies and we are very lucky to have been part of the inspiration for work that you will not see anywhere else. All works are for sale, so make sure you come in store to see for yourself.

 Not to be missed!

The SALA Festival will be running from 3rd – 26th August.
